For the cell phone to be effective when you bell has been ring you would have to have it on your person. That is a bunch of metal, glass, and plastic that I prefer not to have with me in a crash.
What about at registration to have stickers with have rider's name, tow vehicle, emergency contact info, and health insurance information. You write on and then place inside right or left chest portion of your leathers....pocket if available.
ICE in phones is great for riding on the street, but not on the track. we are getting away from what this thread was meaning, ON/AT the track important info. phone info wont do squat when you highside in T9 at grattan and are laid out wiht a phone in your race sit will it?. BUT info on your person, bike, and or registration sign up sheet will. this is what this threads about. so keep your phones in the pits, its useless out on the track.......unless your calling Jig to let him know your coming and to be ready for that motoGP shot.
+1 +1 It is pretty simple really. If you are alone at the track you are probably the one that cares most about what happens to you. Take responsibility. Whatever form that takes to make you comfortable.* The simple solution is often best. Pen and paper still work great (as long as it is legible). The key is the information on that paper is relevant, easily readable and quickly accessed. To protect paper from sweat and other fluids (sorry but true) just use a zip-lock bag. I suggest the following: 1) Wear something easy to read and obvious on your person that won't hurt you in an incident. This should have at least info important to your health and well being for emergency workers to have quickly available (allergies, etc). Frankly everything else is secondary.* 2) On the back of your registration paperwork write down your bike description (unique features), pit location and vehicle info. As a backup to #1 above, include any serious health related issues like allergies or other relevant "conditions". Ideally STT could add this to the registration form to standardize and properly prioritize the info but just so it is easily available and readily available in a common place and format.**But it should be optional.*
LOL At least I think so. I have seen you instructors do some amazing multi-tasking. With Bluetooth, noise cancellation, and voice recognition with your phone you could hold your conference call while leading my slow ass in a Novice session.
I guess we're talking about track riding? I keep my iPhone in my tank bag on every street ride with ICE with my wife's info.
I like Velox's idea of having it in a ziplock bag under your leathers somewhere. I can see attaching the bag to my chest protector, but I'm not sure otherwise. Something like a dogtag could work also. This is definitely worth thinking about. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Here is an idea for you all that are interested in having your info on your person-- http://www.roadid.com/Common/Default.aspx http://www.roadid.com/Catalog.aspx?C=RoadID
please read he title o the thread, thanks. ive been riding track with STT sinc 2006, never in m 6yrs of riding track have i ever know of a rider who carries their cell while on-track. im glad i pit in the same area, with the same people, and STT staff knows each of us in case something happens, they know where/who to find. others are not as lucky as us, which is the POINT of this thead. so please get of the cell phone kick, this is not a street ride people, its a trackday.
I think I will just put medical and contact info in a ziplock bag and put it in the interior pocket of my leathers. Should be easy enough to copy both sides of my insurance card and add some of the other basic info. Also some of the new smartphones are adding an emergency contact feature so that it can be reached on a locked phone. It is a new feature on the Droid Razr Maxx with Android 4 (ICS). It is at the bottom of the screen next to the Emergency Call button. Attached is a site that will print a free medical alert card. http://www.medids.com/free-id.php
Just make sure you know someone/meet someone at the track....Let them know what group your in ect,.... I always let the people know that Im with where my keys/wallet and phone are.... what number is the Old Ladys in the phone ect... BTW, No passcode on the phone here.. Everyone should be doing this for Safety/Security/Theft reasons as well as Emergency Reasons.. I guess we are more social down South I dont know but we have been doing this for quite sometime...... As far as carrrying your phone on the track not a good idea.... A tag on the leathers I can see but nothing more.... I do like the idea about Pit/Vehicle info on the registration.. Last year at CMP we had a guy go down and hit his head.. He couldnt remember where he pitted or what his name was...or what happened.. Pretty scary stuff... He ended up being released from the Ambulance and then came too about a hour later.......
Info in leathers sounds like the best plan. A majority usually have other people with them at the track so its not as important. But even then they should have a conversation about who to contact back home in case of accident. I feel safe knowing my friends have plenty of numbers to call in an emergency.
I did, thanks. Then the topic of ICE entries in phones was introduced, by someone else, which I responded to. Pretty sure this isn't the first thread on the STT forum to go off-topic, LOL. Also, what can it hurt to have an ICE entry in one's phone, while at the track?
cELL PHONE AT YOUR pIT aREA DUH.................. dog tags are good idea, but I don't think anyone is going to touch your suit until you get to the Hospital!! Having your info stored in your phone would be a big plus!! ICE.....You do sign a contact person Name and Number when you sign up for Track Days...I know I do. Don't mind DemonRR he is one of those RedLine Peeps...........Any INFO is good INFO!
hey assjockey (i can say that as he's a redline peep) cell phone info does NOTHING when your fakin bell is rung and in the back of the track ambulance trying to answer their questions or enroute to the ER and cant communicate. why dont you guys see the difference in having ICE info ON THEM vs ice info on their phone in their vehicles or pit area where NO ONE knows where your pitted at? i think this is a dead topic now. as it went from important to pointless in 3 posts. lol
DemonRR don't fret too much. I think it took more than 3 posts to go sour and there is some good suggestions early on. What we really need is for STT to take the lead on this effort.
