I use the Pit Bull TRS in an open trailer:

I don't NEED the chock, but it I sometimes like having it at the track so it's nice to have a spot to put it in the trailer (I ran without the chock for a while). Plus it makes adjusting to hit the TRS correctly much easier. I roll the bike into the chock, then lower the TRS and line it up, then just roll the bike back an inch and roll it forward again to lock it in.

I run an open trailer without a chock. I will be getting a chock soon though, because it'll make it easier to line up the pit bull trailer restraint the first pass. I do have just a chock on the right side of the trailer though, if I ever have to bring a second bike.

Nice - that's the exact trailer I am currently building in my garage and what I intend to mount the TRS on. If a chock help with alignment then I will probably grab one of those as well. Small cost overall then for a pretty well setup trailer that will be easy to load solo.

If you're creative you can fit a LOT on to them, if it'd be helpful, I did sort of a build up thread over here: http://www.triumph675.net/forum/showthread.php?t=136458

If you're worried about drilling into the bed, then the PitBull aint for you either. Both the STS and the Pit Bull require you to drill. As Dustin mentioned, I prefer the STS. The Pit Bull is top quality stuff though. I just find them to be bulky, cumbersome, and a general pain in the ass compared to the STS system. Both operate off the same principal of using the axle as a mounting point.

I used to think the pitbull was overpriced until I purchased one and started using it. I had it mounted on on open trailer and had no issues with it. I just bought an enclosed trailer this spring and have been in the process of setting it up. So I went to remove my plate from my open trailer and the nuts were rusted on the bottom (from 5 years of rain snow salt ect) and I could not remove them. I thought I would pull out the sawzaw and hack the nuts off and go buy some new ones. After going through 5 deablo blades at $6 a piece I didn't even touch the first bolt. Don't know what they are made of but they are f'n hard as hell. Ended up grinding them off and it was not an easy task. Now I know why it's so expensive not sure what grade metal they use but everything about is made to last. Just another thing I noticed the bushing/collar that the arms clamp into must be made from that same harden steel because they are thin walled and after 5 years they show no signs of stress or cracks or out of round. I am now a in complete belief that it is worth every penny. Gladly paid to have 4 new bolts with bushings coming from pitbull for $10.

I live near them and though I have zero affiliation I have been there a few times for stuff. Having talked to them including the owner they take the quality and performance VERY serious and are good honest folks. 100% worth doing business with.

I just installed the T-Rex trailer restraint system in my trailer today. I already had a wheel chock and have been using tie down straps the old school way. I bought the T-Rex axel blocks/spools that they recommend as part or their system at a cost of $166 total for all and I like them, they definitely hold the bike in place. Will they loosen up on long trips? I don't know yet but it seems like they will be just fine. I'm traveling from St Louis to the Dallas Fort Worth area For the 23-24 weekend this month to ride Eagles Canyon Raceway so I'll post my opinion afterwards.
