Getting less inclined to ride on the street. Primary bike is an RC51 that's in the process of conversion to track only. Selling my other bike. Anybody need an ST1300...
I don't hit the streets much at all. A couple hundred miles after my track days are done. Switching my bike back and forth from street to track is more of a hassle. Besides, every year more people are getting their drivers license. Thats just more people that wont watch out for you.
I do both, this year prolly 25 track event's between Track day's and CCS,but we do have some really nice road's here in Wisconsin, and we do alot of group ride's but they are way in the stick's.I'm scared to ride in town, plus it's no fun.
I need an option #3. Track Only by default cause I can only afford one bike and I love the track too much (and go too often) to split my bike between both. I've been off the street for almost three years now. Last year I took a friend's bike for a spin on the streets and damn it felt wierd! Still, I miss hopping on the bike to run to the store or to a friend's house or something.
I am doing my first track days this year, and I hear a lot of guys talk about quiting street riding, after they've been on the track. I'm anxious to see if it changes me, because in the here and now I could never see myself giving up the freedom of riding on the street. I don't ride much in town, I try to stay off the beaten path as much as possible. I mostly ride the backroads. I also usually take at least one trip a year to East Tennessee. Riding over there is incredible, and the scenery is awesome too.
Track only for me as well.........Well, except yesterday when the P.O.S truck I had broke down about a mile and a half from my girlfriends house. I snuck it back really quick just because I didn't want it stolen. .......Shhhhhh!!!! Other than yesterday just the track though. I tend to drive to retarded on the street and it's just not worth it. Besides playing on the track is funner. 8)
I still ride street, gixxer 1k. But my next bike will be something other than a sport bike. To ride the big gixxer on the street like is is supposed to be ridden is insanity. to ride it as a commuter or 2-up sunday ride bike is a waste. I'm thinking about stretching/pimping a 'Busa or go crazy customizing a boulevard (im a Suzuki guy) for my next bike.
I ride everything I can. You just need to tailor your riding to the environment and bike available. Just as you ride a cruiser different you need to ride the street different. I have been to 12 states on my '04 CBR1000RR with the goal of riding the lower 48 on it.
Both , I like to commute on the bike ( save on gas ) and occasional jaunts down to the Hocking Hills with the Missus and a couple of mates. I have found though since I started TD]ing I ride very conservatively on the street .Why bother doing 90 on the street when you can do 150 on the back straight @ MO.
Still do both but every year my street miles get less and less. Much more and I will be track only. Nothing can compare to the track nothing at all. Ive been riding for 14 years and have had 2 diff cruisers and 3 sport bikes. This is my 2nd year doing track days so for me to say I would give it up shows how addicting this track stuff is.
no street riding anymore. i've raced and now do track days. it's just not as much fun to ride on the street-especially if you live in nyc. it might be a different situation if i lived in a rural area- who knows? 8)
Just the track I rode on the street only for years, but got way too fast and aggressive and eventually had a crash that I walked away from only by the Grace of God. Now I don't miss it much...but I do think sometimes that it would be fun to have a KTM Superduke, a Trumpet Speed Triple, or a Multistrada. Maybe someday, but I'll stick with my little GP bike for now.
last year I had less than 300miles on my 999 and this year? Well, she's been in her track skirts since Mid-O and the chance is, she'll remain like that for the rest of the year...
