I need recommendations from first hand experience on gloves that not only provide good protection but also last a long time with regular use. I bought a pair of Cortech Adrenaline 2 gloves in December and the seams that hold the kangaroo leather to the upper have already come apart. In hindsight I should have bought higher quality gloves, but for $180 I expected more than 2 months of use (about 2,000 miles riding). I am willing to pay for quality, so I do not really have a price range. There are just too many options, I want to know what works. Thanks
http://www.sttforum.com/showthread.php?t=10794&highlight=glove+recommendation I had cortech gloves, got the handroids, and can't believe I ever wore the cortechs. They feel so cheap and flimsy by comparison. I actually felt kind of shitty putting my cortechs back on after getting the handroids. Like, "Did I really wear these things on the track?".
Handroids. Sometimes I wish I had more reasons to wear these, they're so comfortable. Crash protection is excellent.
spartan leathers http://www.spartanleathers.com/motorcycle-gloves?zenid=d3c8kv8ljp14f5trrjcereuto2 either is great glove. none leather in my opinion best there is http://www.motoport.com/index.php?option=com_redshop&view=product&pid=23&cid=14&Itemid=15 this glove lasted me, daily commuting, 200 days a year for 6 years
I have a set of handroids great glove even though I get blisters from the wrinkle in the palm. I really want the top tier helds titans
i wear icon overlord leather gloves in black cause they are the only company that makes 4XL gloves .. i shit you not .. had some spidi's before that in 3XL and the webbings of the glove finger were half an inch away from the webbings on my fingers .. alpinestars, held, dainese, etc.'s 3XL's were even smaller in comparison .. love the icon's though #sasquatchhands
Hard to beat the Held Phantom II's. I've got a pair that I've been wearing since 2010, both on the track and on the street.......lots and lots of use and they are still in good shape. They have been crash tested also.
Thanks for the replies. Sounds like a lot of people like the Handroids, I am going to give them a shot. I am interested in the Held Phantom but have read that it has a long thumb and pinky, and I have a relatively short thumb.
I wear Held Phantom II and Kushitani GPR6. Both are fantastic gloves. Held actually just updated their Titan gloves too if you want to be the coolest guy at the track with some new stuff.
I have handroids. The first pair I had lost a stitch after the 2nd year I had them...Emailed them and they replaced them for free...can't hardly beat that with a stick...
Glad to hear that, I just ordered a pair. The Adrenaline 2's I have will be covered under warranty, but I'm not real keen on wearing gloves that feel apart within 2000 miles from regular use. I was torn between between the Heroic SPR and the Handroid, and then I realized the heroic is not in stock in my size so that decision was made for me. Hopefully I can get them broken in before my first track day at Barber in April!
Another Handroid vote. They fit, um, like a glove. I'm of the opinion that good gear should vanish when you're riding, and that's exactly what they do. Break-in period is a bit rough, those suckers are stiff! After they break in a bit, they feel amazing and crash pretty well.
not alpinestars Helds for me, they are awesome gloves. A stars not so much IMO, dont crash well and fit for me was crappy. Love their boots and leathers.
+1 for the 'droids... I still have my A* GPtech as backup, but haven't put them on since the 'droids, and that was over a year ago
