Warmers/Tire question

Those tires are about an inch taller than the 180/55 q3, so your rear will be about .5 inch higher. I'm not to familiar with the 2011+ gsxr 600, but you may need fork extenders to get the geo right.

 

does nobody like the front dipped a little? i put 190/55's on my r6 and even shimmed the shock .. im sure the geo was way off from stock but i felt so much better on the bike .. is no1 else that way?

I run the 190/55 rear on my R6 as well, feels great :rawk:

 

I called, talked to the dunlop guy about it and end up changing my order to the usa slicks. I was worried about the geometry change and this should bolt on and work without having to make changes. The dunlop guy said alot of people run the 190/60/17 on a 600 but said since I'm on stock shocks and that I was concerned about the changes it makes to the bike that I should just go with the slicks.

I ordered a 120 med front and a 190/55 med+ rear. They only make a med+ rear now. I asked about cold tearing issues with a med+ rear over the med rear they used to make and he said I shouldn't have any issues at all. I need to get everything in a do some testing. So many unanswered questions running through my head.

Q3s surprised me a lot on their track performance. That said, the GPAs and the NTec slicks your are trying will blow your mind! The ability to trail brake much llater, and the exit grip are phenomenal. I'm riding an 08 gsxr 1000. I can absolutely hammer the gas on exit and the grip is great. When it does slide, it is nicely predictable, and comes back without much drama at all. You'll love them!
The extra rear height will make some difference. But unless you are shimming the rear, you shouldn't have any adverse effects with front grip. If you Armes already at the top of your forks, you can lift the front a couple mil to keep it closer to where you are currently.

This is the only picture I can find on my phone that shows my forks relative to the top of the triple tree. It looks maybe 1-2mm from the top and I assuming it isn't safe to recess the fork into the triple tree any, even if its only 5mm, (.19 inches) right?

 

Looks topped out to me. I def wouldn't recess them. You may be able to find fork extenders if needed. But I wouldn't worry about that just for the tire change.

 

I got them in the mail today along with my warmers. I'm debating using them this weekend but I'll probably do one more day on the Q3s to eat them up some before changing tires again. I'll be on slicks at NCM in a few weeks though and can report back my findings!

use the warmers on q3, i did with zero issues but many will suggest not to ... the warmers wont get them any hotter than you will riding them

 

you can run a q3 till it's almost bald. It'll tell you when it's time to change.

 

Tire looks brand new. Do you know about the wear bar and how to read it? I'm guessing if that tire has 2 days on it you could easily get another 2-3

 

Dave Moss will be at the 8 22/23 event at NCM. Worried about geometry, set up blah blah blah, get with Dave.

 

The GPA Pros are better than the D211...but it's still a move up from the Q3 as long as you heat them..

 

I ran today in A with another org. First season out I dropped 1.2 more seconds off my time. The suspension guy there made some changes to my bike and I dropped another .8 or so the next time out. I averaged a 2:08 lap time with a 2:07.08 being my best lap. After those two seasons I came over the hill top (130ish mph) following a group of 4 riders down the hill into the left up the hill. The guy on the far right side (outside of the turn) crashed. It happened so quick at that speed but i think the guys front tire turned into the back tire of the guy in front/beside him. He had to of crashed at atleast 100mph there! I was in avoidance mode at 100mph trying to avoid him, his bike, and pieces that flew off the bike as it flipped across the track, through the grass and then back across the track.

After that it was lunch. I ended up having gf drama from her apparently going through my phone the night before and bringing it up while at the track. That mess, the guy wrecking in front of me,being tired, and not being able to focus I slowed down. I started running 2:08-9 and couldn't get faster. I ended up not even running the last session.

It seems I've Plato'ed at a 2:07.08, I wanted a 2:06 so bad but I just wasn't in it the last couple sessions. I'm not sure how to go faster unless I use 6th gear in all the fast areas but even then I'm 10 seconds off what some guy on a R6 ran.
