This was scheduled and sold as Thunderbolt. When did it change? It is listed on multiple places on the site as Thunderbolt but now the front page list it as Lightening and it is sold as Ligtening when you log in. For instance here

http://www.sttforum.com/ it is listed as Thunderbolt. We should have been told if it changed.

I never noticed the STT Forum Schedule said T-Bolt and that would be a typo by the guy who does that for us.

The actual STT site has been New Jersey Motorsports Park Thunderbolt Raceway - Lightning Course

The actual Name of NJMSP is: "New Jersey Motorsports Park -ThunderBolt Raceway". Within that facility there are two courses "ThunderBolt Course and Lightning Course" I can see how that might get confusing.

I was going to register for the OCT 11th NJMP Thunderbolt track day but now i'm confused.

A few months ago my co-worker sent me the track days that he signed up for this season and it included:
Saturday, October 11 - NJMP ThuderBolt - STT

My spreadsheet which has all track days and races for the season shows:
Track Day NJMP - Thunderbolt 11-Oct Sat Melleville, NJ STT 6

I remember checking the STT site numerous times throughout the season and it always said New Jersey Motorsports Park - Thunderbolt. However it is diplayed differently now. :( I'm not able to go to the Sept 1st track day and I really wanted to try the Thunderbolt track this year.

I've ridden both tracks and I found Lightning has a much better flow for bikes. Even though it's .3 miles shorter, Lightning feels like a faster track. The back section of Thunderbolt is a combination of very long, slow horseshoes. Tough to get a good flow through that area. Someone referred to them as 'patients', which is pretty accurate. Rest of Thunderbolt is very fun and pretty fast.

Dust/dirt is also much worse on Thunderbolt, but hopefully will be better next year. Not so much on the track, but in the pits and pit out.

Both tracks have absolutely perfect pavement, as expected. Tons of grip, so put aside some $$ for tires. Both tracks are a bit harsh on the skins. Might need new knee pucks as well.

If I like it or not is not the point of this conversation. I didn't really care for Lightning.

I have an email here from STT today and the Oct 11 and Sept 1 are listed as exactly the same track. When they list Pocono and other tracks they list which track so I would have expected this to be the same.. I couuldn't be the only person confused by this and with this email going out today I'm sure there will be more

Wow. I'm signed up (as are friends) for Sept 1 and Oct 11, and fully expected to be riding the same track both times--Thunderbolt.

I've ridden Lightning (it's a blast), but as KTD points out, that's not the point.

    Bait and switch?

It seems like more than a typo. At any rate people should be notified and it should be fixed.

    From the first new letter

    New Jersey Motorsports Park on
    the Docket in 2008;
    Jennings Returns
    New Jersey Motorsports Park featuring
    Thunderbolt Raceway. Located in Millville,
    New Jersey, this brand-new venue
slated for opening in June, will feature over
2.25-miles of asphalt, 14 challenging turns
and a one-half mile straightway. STT has
scheduled events at this exciting new facility
on September 1 and October 10-11.

When I signed up for the Oct 11th date, it said Thunderbolt. Everything on the site and emails from STT said Thunderbolt. Even the most recent eNewsletter. September 1 and October 11 are listed the same. I hope when I get there this weekend it doesn't switch to Lightning. If there was a change, people should be notified.

I know this doesn't help, but they really shouldn't have named one of the tracks the same as the facility. Just doesn't make sense.

Probably the same guy who named Newark Penn Station back in the day!

FYI... There's a Baltimore Penn Station too... :)
Just seems 'like a thing to say'.
I've not been to either track, so I'm looking forward to Monday anyway.

Yes I know what the registration page says but I also know wht the email says.
I'm sorry but if you look the track that is ridden on is denoted in parentheses for other tracks so why would anyone assume that isn't the case for NJMP?

I know they have two courses. I realize the name issue. Still anyone reading this going by the system in the message is going to think its that track when you list it like.
    Pocono (EAST)
    NJMP(Thunderbolt Raceway)

I'm not mad I'm not upset I'm just saying. I can't say what the registration page said when I signed up.

One of your registration pages has it correct, the first one (at least it is now, I think that was a recent correction?). However, when you click to enter the forum, that registration page has it listed as Thunderbolt, as does the last newsletter/email that went out. Not that it matters to me, but I can see where folks are confused.

To those who are confused and or disappointed....

The bottom line is that the track day in question is going to be @ Liightning, regardless of where your (and mine) confusion came from. Even Monte, and those who he employes to help out, is human and therefore subject to making mistakes that might have misled you....Oh well....GET OVER IT! It wasn't a life changing error.... Nothing (travel plans, expenses, etc) changes except what particular stretch of perfect pavement is going to put a grin on your face.

Bob good point I think were the problem is when the NJMP started the official name was "Thunderbolt Raceway"and when STT booked dates last year the schedule read Thunderbolt. As Bob posted GET OVER IT..... any race track is WAY better then the street....

I'll give you the same "break" you're giving Monte .

The confusion is being clarified over 5 weeks prior to the event, which should give the minority of members who sign up for events that far in advance more than enough opportunity to cancel and change their plans if they are unhappy with the change of venue, and I expect those who have yet to sign up will see that change as they register.

    Bob,

KTD is going to miss out on a great track. And... one that still has perfect pavement. More track for everyone else.
