I am just saying, Scott and I are pretty decent friends and he didnt want to paint mine. He said the prep work on the shottie bodies wasnt worth the effort to get it where he was satisfied. This was a year ago so he may have changed his mind. Its worth a call to find out.
Oh and Scott was even complimenting my Paintwork last time he rode at Barber!!!! I will need 2 sets shot soon.... If he refuses I will still say he is One Hell of a Painter!!!
Hello its Scott at Fast Finish. My contact is fastfinishpainting@gmail.com.Shop number is 205 467 3395.I might be up in Athens this Saturday dropping of some parts to the M4 team and a CBR for a customer in Huntsville
The Hotbodies deal with me is that I have found that most people, not all that purchase the bodywork are looking for the cheapest bodywork that they can get. And are not really worried about the quality. That being said I am not the cheapest guy to send stuff to.I am not perfect but I try and do the best job I can do on everything, and to get the Hotbodies to the point that I am happy with it the customer could have paid for better bodywork.I have changed my policy with this economy. I cant keep turning work away but it will cost more for the prep than say Sharkskinz or Armour or Attack. And it will probally still not turn out like Trevors,Felix or Charlies. The Hotbodies guy is doing something right he sales a lot of it.Its just not what I am looking for to spray paint on but I will, just more cost.
I did this to a set of hotbodies and it has held up for a season and a half without issue. Cleans up easily, cheap/simple to do and for the most part looks about the same as the day it was done. http://www.rickwrench.com/50dollarpaint.html
I'm a big fan of Hotbodies for 1 month out of the year. November when they have their 2 for 1 sale. I've got a vendor that sells them with no shipping fee, so it's $325 for the set. I'm not a big fan of expensive paint jobs on a part that is purchased to crash on. My last paint job cost $13 and looked good enough to everyone who saw it from more than 3 feet away. 4 rattle cans of $3.27 Kylon from Walmart. 15 minutes of light sanding prep work. I sure was glad I didn't dump big dollars into the paint and fairings after I wadded the bike up into a little ball. People with serious budget concerns spending anywhere from $300 to 800 for a paint job should do something more useful with their money, like spending it on suspension or seat time. (IMHO)
Road Atlanta First weekend there last year.... In the Kink T-9... Rock from another bike..... KABLAMMM!!
Yeah sorry about that. Poor people like me, who are just trying to figure out ways to get to the track this year, are obviously not your target market. It would be nice if some pro painters recognized the need for a high value paint job. You can relax your quality standards for that. No more than 15 minutes of sanding/prep time No primer coat No clear coat No multiple colors or designs No metalics or pearls No multi-stage layers No buffing or polishing Fiberglass texture will show through The customer promises not to mention your name Will look good from 60 feet away at 150 mph All you really need to promise is full coverage and no runs. You can call that the Hotbodies Special.
Yeah but then the customers would complain about this and that... You definietly get what you pay for in the Painting Spectrum... :thumb:
And if you do decide to use rattle cans, don't expect any reputable painter to touch them afterwards. Even with a couple coats of sealer that crap seeps through.
15 minutes will get you a primer scuffing on the lower FYI, the pics I posted are rattle can with urethane clear...
Impossible for Scott. He is too much of a perfectionist.:thumb: Look at Trevor's, Felix's, or my bikes... they look gooooooood:bounce: This was one of my favorites he did for Gina..
No question, it looks nice. Big dollar paint jobs just aren't the right thing for some people. Actually, I get the feeling if I got a high end paint job, it would make me slower for fear of destroying it.
Wadding up a rattle can paint job sucks too... Here she is in the before condition: After: And Fixed:
