Other option go to your local body shop. Ask how much cash and be sure tell them you won't need a Reciet If your not in a hurry and not color set they will likely spray it very reasonably while they mix paint for another job.
Look if the Rattle can makes you happy thats great. There is nothing wrong with what you are doing. Some people like a good looking bike. Its just part of it for some, myself included. All I was doing was explaining why I didnt like to paint the bodywork and you proved my point is all.You are happy with what you have done and thats usally who buys the bodywork are guys like you.I have never sold or painted a set of Hotbodies that the customer has had the other brands that would buy the Hotbodies again. There is more involved than just the finish the fitment is pretty important as well to most. But like I said before Hotbodies have found a market and a lot of people use it.But its not good for places like me to paint for several reasons. You said people should not waste their money sending bodywork to places like mine,Thanks alot, just because you choose not to have a nice set of bodywork and paint doesnt mean other people should not either.I will not lower my standards on anything I do.I try to do my best no matter what I do.But right now we still have the right to choose things in this country, who knows for how long. The can job is fine if thats good with you or anyone else that goes that way.The nice paint jobs is fine for people that go that way.Either way is up to the person.By the way the 999 in the profile picture has a set of Hot Bodies on it that Roger Gave me a long time ago.I spent many hours fitting and prepping and it was a nice job in the end.It just took time and doing it for myself I could do that. Thanks have fun riding this season
Guys, to each their own. After my r6, I told myself I would never buy hotbodies again. Like some, I appreciate quality craftsmanship and think a professional paint job is worth the cost. The hotbodies came with the bike and for now, I'm just going to attempt to do it myself. I emailed Scott, and I will be using his services when budget allows for new quality bodywork. Thanks for the input!
Went all vinyl on mine 'cause I didn't want to paint. Added decals and boom. Track day ready all day!
We just added some colour to my bike today. Vinyl worked great for me. HOLY BRIGHT !!! HMMMMM I don't think the pics showed up ????
Mixed and reduced straight color (non-metallic) base coat to match your tank, about $70. Clear coat is $120 a gallon, but you only need a fifth of that, so $30 or so if you split with other guys. Paint it yourself, probably under $150 total and more than a full day's work. Ask someone else to paint it, add their labour and prep time. Someone said $300, that is quite reasonable. What we did was add $20 of vinyl and some pinstriping tape to liven up that single color, it came out great.
^I was also going to mention Brian. He's painted a few cars for a company I used to work for. Super cool/honest guy, great work. At the time I wasn't into bikes, but i remember seeing a lot of 'race bodies' in his shop...
When I paint I estimate about $125-135 for materials. The little stuff adds up. So at $300 I make about $170 for about 8-12hrs of work (new fairings less time involved, obviously) yep no pics, try again. Interested to see.
