LOL inconsistent, off line. Oo wow. Let's see your record lap time at NCM. I felt it was a poor place to pass but I'm done talking about it as I said. I'll take note that's how to safely/fairly pass someone in the future. Thanks.

Liquidsliver-I've ran 2:02s at this track, I was running 2:09s this weekend due to being cautious in the wet stuff.

That one sentence, pretty much says it all. He's already there, as a result of a clean pass on you..... Which means he owns that little piece of real estate because he got there before you did..... Even if that is where you had intentions of going. If someone passes me on the track (and that happens a lot. :D ), I have to "wait" until I can move over into a preferred line until I can move there safely

Josh... Again just let it go.... Steve P is the last person you want to challenge at any track... Even as ugly as he may be he is about as fast as they come...Take his advice, words and knowledge and soak it in like a sponge... It will help you tremendously..... You need to just let this go and focus on your riding not anyone else's.... You may have thought it was a poor place to pass but you left a 10 Ft gap between you and the grass..No passing rules in Advanced other than be nice... And that was about as nice as it gets... I got elbowed by Jake Lewis at Barber in the Kink... I simply thought it was cool as shit after I changed my underwear... ... Everyone is on here to help you not hurt you....

Here's something I've learned in my older age. When everyone, including coaches, says you're wrong, believe them.

The only thing you are accomplishing with your responses is showing that while you may have some raw talent on a bike you are severely lacking the maturity and judgement to be actually classified as an A group rider. There is not one of us that knows everything and riding is a constant process of learning and adjusting both mental and riding techniques.

You need to back up and look hard at how you are coming across and think about what you want to accomplish on a bike. Right now I have to say with the path you are going down that I would consider you a danger to others on the track due to your unwillingness to even consider another viewpoint. With all the talk about laptimes as the be all end all and the flippant "I'll take note that's how to safely/fairly pass someone in the future" you come across as a spoiled arrogant person. I've got news for you, you don't currently have the skillset to pull off that pass safely.

Dave608 is an expert on anything having to do with track days or racing. He has raced at almost every level and is usually the fastest guy on the track. Anyone would be wise to listen to him. In my book, whatever Dave says goes.

Anywhere in the 2:02 to the 2:09 range I'll let my wife take care of, as she goes quicker than that. And she's ugly too.

The other thing to consider is that IF it was an R6 he has less places he can pass. Even on my 750 I was having to pass people in places I normally would not have in "I". Not that any were bad but I should be able to pass about anywhere for most folks so I try to be extra polite since I am riding 'down'. So consider he might have been behind you the lap before and saw that as a good place.

Fun video to watch though so thanks for posting it.

If that pass bothered you, you are in for a long, sad time in the Advanced group. Absolutely nothing wrong with it from your camera angle.

Pshhhh.....a friend of mine recently took an inside line and put his footpeg into my quad at full lean. At the end of the session I gave him a high-5 since we didn't crash and thought it was awesome that I didn't freak and put my bike in the grass. Sack up

Since this appears to be the post everyone liked, I'll reply to this. I really don't care enough about this topic for it to of turned into 3 pages of getting told that what I felt was a pass done in a questionable location on track was actually fair, made sense, I suck, Non-consistent, off line, slow and every other comment that got thrown at me. I posted to get the opinion of someone with more skill than me because to me I felt it wasn't the most ideal pass location. My concern stemmed from if he didn't come around me when he did I would of been in his line within 2-3 second and it would of left him without any track. Maybe he's such a pro that he had the timing all figured out and knew he could make it around me before I got to the corner of the curbing or maybe he just got lucky.

To claim I'm unsafe or you would consider me dangerous is ridiculous. I can tell you I wouldn't of gone for a risky pass like that. If anything that would make me safe. The posters above claimed the pass was safe and fair, not I. You can go to my videos and watch everything I've ever posted. If you find one unsafe pass I've ever done please let me know. I tend to get stuck behind people more times than not just because I'm not willing to make a pass unless I feel I can do it with 100% confidence of being clean and not being in someones way. For the guy that said I was inconsistent, Would you like for me to take screen shots of every lap I've done and show you that my line and my marks are within a couple feet every single lap? To me that seems to be indicative of being consistent but what do I know? The talk of laptimes stems from saying my riding is sub-par and slow. I'd be willing to bet my laptimes are faster than 70% of the people there, my line is consistent, and I don't make risky passes. I agree I'm not used to getting passed on a motorcycle at 80+ mph by 3 feet, I guess it's something I need to get used to.

See everyone at the next one :(

Oh my you are fast!! So fast you are top 30%..... cool story bro!!

In that session, on that day, at that track... you were inconsistent, off pace and not ready for a clean, close pass.

Sometimes I wish I had more track time than sense... I'd be top 30% too!! :) :p

Josh, I'm going to make one more comment, then I'm done with this thread. I went back and watched the video that you posted, that started this whole thing. From the time that you came out onto the track, you missed almost every single apex that you rode up until the time that the guy passed you. On most, you were way off the curbing and not on a great line. I'm not saying this to be critical, but you really need to get with a coach that truly knows the track and watch where their lines are when you follow them around the track.....there is lots of time to make up. And before you even ask........NO, I'm not one of the really fast guys in this org., but consistent lines..... and being predictable.....Yep, I am on both counts. Just something to think about.
