Thank you, that was a very nice compliment........but you may have spoken too soon. We did have one Red Flag in the Intermediate group........Saturday morning.........very first session of the day. They had to shut the track down because there was a HUGE turtle on the back straight that decided that he/she like the view from there. That was our only Red of the weekend.
Josh, You are still not getting it and reading what you want into things. You claim you were looking for opinions but yet you immediately went defensive when people offered ones of the pass being safe, not willing to even consider it. It is your attitude towards the situation that has made this thread blow up. This post is even more proof of this. You start out sounding like you are thinking about things then you start throwing out phrases like "Maybe he's such a pro", even though multiple people have told you it was a safe pass, you keep hanging onto "I wouldn't of gone for a risky pass like that", etc, etc. Not to mention we are back on the freaking laptimes again, I could care less if you are 5 seconds slower than me or 5 seconds faster, laptimes have exactly zero relevance in this discussion, we are talking about the experience to handle the type of riding that is the norm in A group. I'll stand by everything I said, you got spooked as you don't have the experience to handle a pass or the judgement to classify a clean pass as "risky" when that wasn't even semi-aggressive. It's not you are a "bad" rider just not ready for this type of situation. My statement on unsafe goes directly to the attitude you have been expressing, not that you have made risky passes, it's the apparent unwillingness to seek out and accept when you may be wrong. As I quoted "I'll take note that's how to safely/fairly pass someone in the future" could not be interpreted by anyone else as anything but a very confrontational response on your part. It was this perceived unwillingness to be able to accept others viewpoints that I found most concerning, when taken in conjunction with other statements it was like you were saying screw all of you, I know what I'm doing and you are all crazy. I've seen that attitude before and it NEVER ends well. I'll go a step further and describe exactly what concerned me after the pass. As I said, you spooked and overreacted, you went much further to the right than needed and blew your line. If there had been another bike coming up to overtake you on the right you would have cut them off and then hit your brakes likely resulting in a nasty crash. You will likely say well that wouldn't be my fault he made me change my line. You would be wrong, there was zero reason to change your line, as I stated earlier at best a split second delay in your setup to the left and all would have been good. All of the bad line, hard braking, running out to the curb is all on you caused by not being ready for the A group.
That was a safe pass for A group - not exactly the prettiest thing in the world - but completely safe and acceptable. t
Clean pass. When your ready, i suggest working on your shifting and keeping the bike higher in RPM's. Your giving up alot on your entrance and exit, that is likely why that guy wanted to get past. Dont get frustrated by experiences like this, use them as learning. Put your head down, and this guy will have to try harder to get past you in the future. good luck!
When doors are left open.. Go on in... What would that cyclepath guy know. It's not like he set the lap record or anything.. Wait..
mr turtle snuck out in A group too, he was very unpredictable and his lines .. lets not get started on those .. back to N group for him
And this is where I said in the beginning you simply got spooked.... Let it go Josh there will be many many more ppasses on you in A group way closer than that... Just look where your going and ride your own ride... And for gods sake don't try to keep up with some of the people passing as well... That will spell trouble in a flashy box manner..... Your a good rider... keep up the good attitude and just have fun... That's why we are all there...
Like others have said get with a coach and work with them. If you get spooked at 80 mph what is going to happen when someone passes you at 140mph? with more track time you will get up to speed and hopefully not be so quick to complain. I know its not racing but in the advance group this is not even something a control rider or who ever is running an event would even bother with. I am surprised they haven't told you to harden the F up.
Recommend this thread get locked. What's needed to be said has been said, and the rest is only flamebait...
Actually there was a Red Flag during NOV too. 'Deception' got the best of someone and the bike didn't fair good. Rider seemed to be OK.
yeh neon yellow and black gsxr, was garaged a few down from me, he was fine, bike had seen better days
Were you and the significant other riding in different groups on green machines with the 'future rider' watching? If so I was next door on the D675.
I'm in.....I LOVES me some NCM. I'm working on getting my rear tire wear/tearing issue resolved and when that's complete, NCM is going to be perfect for me
Watch out for that Chris guy. He is running 1:57's, riding a bike that looks like Josh Hayes R1, Passing riders like they are parked on the track, and dragging elbows at 120mph. Very scary.......Post up if you saw him pass you......
